About

HSBC North America / HSBC Bank USA is one of the largest banks in the United States. As of this writing, its $300 billion in assets ranked 10th among America's biggest banks. HSBC USA is the American arm of HSBC Holdings, a British company that is one of the largest banks in the world and is known as "The World's Local Bank." As a whole, HSBC has over 7,000 offices in more than 80 countries and boasts almost 90 million customers. If you're looking for a truly global bank, HSBC is a logical place to start your search.

The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) was founded in 1865 in Hong Kong, which was then a British colony. Since then, HSBC has grown into one of the global banking giants, and it has steadily increased its influence in the United States with purchases of Marine Midland Bank in 1987 and Republic National Bank of New York in 1999. Today, HSBC operates more than 250 banking branches in the US. Though the branches are heavily concentrated in the state of New York, where HSBC operates over 165 branches, there are also locations in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and Washington D.C.

Within its retail banking division, HSBC offers consumers financial products such as checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit (CDs), and insurance. HSBC offers both branch banking and online options through its HSBC Direct service. Additionally, the bank is also a mortgage lender, offering residential home loans, mortgage refinancing, and home equity lines of credit. For consumers who frequently travel internationally, the bank also offers its HSBC Premier global banking service.
