Dupaco Community Credit Union, headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, is a credit union federally insured by National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Dupaco's vision is to be its members’ lifetime financial home. Like all credit unions, Dupaco Community Credit Union is not-for-profit and member owned. You must become a member to use the credit union's services, and membership is available to anyone who lives or works in Dupaco's charter area. Today, the credit union offers CDs, savings accounts, and competitive mortgage rates to its members.
Dupaco Credit Union was founded in 1948 by ten employees of the Dubuque Packing Company as a credit union for Dubuque Packing's workers. In 1982, it officially became the Dupaco Credit Union. The credit union has grown steadily over the years, and it now has 12 branch locations, over 67,000 members, deposits of nearly $1 billion, and more than $1.06 billion in assets.
Though it is set up differently than a traditional bank, Dupaco Credit Union offers the same financial products that you would find at a place like Bank of America. Whether you're looking for traditional savings & checking, certificates of deposit (CDs), credit cards, money market accounts, or IRAs, Dupaco has you covered. Additionally, the credit union also originates auto loans. Dupaco Credit Union is a mortgage lender, offering 10 (“mini-mortgage”), 15, and 30 year fixed rate loans, along with 5/1 adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs). Credit unions are often more flexible in approving loans for their members, so it's possible that you may qualify for a home loan even if you could not qualify at a bank or mortgage banker.
