HouseHartford Homebuyer Assistance Program
The HouseHartford Homebuyer Assistance Program is for borrowers in Hartford, CT. It’s funded by HUD’s HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program. Down payment assistance is offered as a second mortgage for up to 20% of the price of the home, with a maximum amount of $40,000. This second mortgage is forgiven over a 5 to 15 year period, as long as it remains the borrower’s primary residence. Minimum contributions from the borrower’s own funds (of $1,000 for those at less than 50% of the Hartford area median income, or $2,000 for those at between 50% and 80% less than the Hartford area median income) must be made. Applicants must also take and complete an 8-hour homebuyer education class.
