Fairfield Homeownership Assistance Program
The Fairfield Homeownership Assistance Program is meant for borrowers in Fairfield, CT. It’s a federally funded Homeownership Assistance Program for income eligible first-time homebuyers. Interested borrowers must take and finish a HUD-certified first-time homebuyer counseling program. Two types of assistance are offered: Down Payment Assistance and Closing Cost Assistance. In Down Payment Assistance, 50% of the down payment is covered (up to $30,000) in the form of a deferred zero-interest loan. This type of loan does not need to be repaid until the borrower either sells the property, refinances, transfers the property, or passes away. In Closing Cost Assistance, up to $2,500 of closing costs are covered. This is a grant and does not need to be repaid. Eligible properties must be owner-occupied and located in Fairfield. The properties can be single-family, two-family or a condominium unit. Investment properties are not included.
